Description
Benzalkonium is a quaternary ammonium compound used as a biocide and cationic surfactant.
It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella typhi, and both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses such as influenza, herpes simplex, norovirus, and Rotavirus. Additionally, Benzalkonium Chloride is effective against many types of fungi, including Candida.
There are areas of use such as animal shelters, hygiene of waterers, feeders, milking machines, cleaning cloths for teats before milking, cleaning of tools and equipment, and feeding bottles.
